Alpacas bring joy to Otterburn residents

Residents at our Otterburn care home in Birmingham have received a visit from special guests from Daisy Farm, in the form of two alpacas.

The pair, who visited the Otterburn care home on Brandwood Park Road, came from local ‘Alpaca at Daisy Farm’, which provides alpaca visits for people to pet, feed and observe.

Our residents and colleagues made the most of their visit, spending the afternoon feeding and playing with the alpacas in the garden of the home.

The session was organised by the home’s activities team to support the wellbeing of our residents and enable them to experience something new and different.

Karen Hall, Office Manager at Otterburn, commented: “At Otterburn, we support adults of working age so we were looking for something different and exciting for them to do.

“I came across the alpaca visits online and thought they’d bring lots of fun for our residents and colleagues.

“As soon as people saw them walk into the garden, you could see their faces light up.”

Residents at Otterburn are already big animal fans. They get regular visits from Lola, team member, Sophia’s, pug, and have recently welcomed ponies into the home.

As the event was such a success, the home hopes to plan more animal visits over the coming weeks.

“We love welcoming animals into the home, but the alpaca visit was something new and exciting for us. They brought so much happiness to both our residents and colleagues. People are already asking when the next visit will be.”
