Working in the care sector is more than just a job – it’s a rewarding career path that can offer personal and professional growth.

If you’re considering a career change, or looking to grow your skills, a job in care might be right for you!

Common misconceptions about a career in care

‘There’s no room for growth’

From entry-level positions to experienced management roles, there’re a variety of career paths and opportunities for professional development.

‘You need a background in care to start your career’

For most entry-level roles, relevant experience and qualifications are valued but not essential.

‘Only women work in care’

It’s true, women make up a large percentage of Care Assistants, however we champion men working in care, and are proud to have lots of male Care Assistants in our homes.

‘Carers only work with older adults in care homes’

The care sector supports a wide range of people, from adults to children. At Exemplar Health Care, we support adults living with complex care needs, through compassionate, community-based and nurse-led care.

Why consider a career in care?

A career in care means you’ll have the opportunity to make every day better for someone.

You’ll develop essential skills like communication, teamwork and problem-solving alongside it being incredibly rewarding.

When we asked Jane, our Senior Health Care Assistant at Bennett Court care home, what she would say to others thinking of applying for a job in care, she replied:

“I’d say, go for it. It’s like having a second family working here and I was made to feel welcome from day one.

“It’s not for everybody so make sure you read more about the home and the role before you apply, but if you’re a caring person who wants to make a difference, then come and join us.”
