Taking the next step in your career can be a big decision.

Lots of factors come into play, but choosing which industry to work in can play a huge part in how you view your job.

Many people hear “social care” and think of nursing jobs, but a lot happens behind the scenes to keep the people we support happy and the home running smoothly.

At Exemplar Health Care, we offer a range of support roles that’re crucial in the running of our care homes, whilst also allowing you to play a positive part in the lives of the people we support.

Here's why a supportive role in a care home might just be your perfect career match, along with a glimpse into the roles we offer.

Why choose a support role in a care home?

Be the change you want to see

Working in a care home gives you a unique opportunity to make a difference in people's lives.

From preparing tasty meals, to designing a bedroom, every role contributes to the happiness and well-being of the people we support.

A sense of belonging

Exemplar Health Care homes are bustling with life and offer a sense of community with colleagues and residents.

This community spirit provides a supportive atmosphere and can make it feel like a home away from home.

Embrace the variety

In a care home, every day brings something new to the table.

The dynamic environment means something unique may be thrown your way that you weren’t expecting, meaning you’ll have to be on your toes and ready to problem solve.

Support roles at Exemplar Health Care

Office roles

We have a number of office roles available in our homes, such as Receptionist, an Administrator, and Office Manager.

A Receptionist would be the first port of call for colleagues and visitors, ensuring everyone signs in and out, as well as manning the phones to handle general queries or appointment bookings.

As an Administrator, you'll be the hub of the care home's operations. A knack for organisation and proficiency in Microsoft Office is a must.

Our Office Managers maintain financial records, filing systems, support the recruitment process and process payroll information, so any experience working in a finance function is super helpful.

Not only this, but there’ll also be time to jump up from the desk and join in on the care home activities!

Catering roles

We also have a range of roles in our Catering Teams in each home.

As a Catering Assistant, you'll play a key role in serving delicious and nutritious meals to our residents.

Our Cooks will also promote good nutrition, understand our resident's likes and needs and create a welcoming dining experience.

Our teams are led by a Catering Manager, who oversees kitchen operations, maintains food hygiene standards and designs menus.

Housekeeping roles

Our Housekeeping Teams play an important role in our homes. Each role makes sure the team runs like a well-oiled machine and has everything in place for our clinical colleagues to give the best care possible.

Our Domestic Assistant role calls for someone with a keen eye for detail to keep the care home spick and span.

From cleaning routines to dusting off a resident’s favourite family photo, you'll ensure the home is always an inviting and welcoming place for everyone.

The Laundry Assistant’s duties range from ensuring linens are well cared for and maintained, to having a resident’s favourite shirt cleaned and ironed ready for their big day out.

You’ll play a big role in our residents looking good and feeling even better.

Finally, each Housekeeping Team has a Head Housekeeper. This role will cover overseeing a team, as well as ordering housekeeping supplies, training colleagues, and ensuring each section of the department runs smoothly.

Maintenance

As a Maintenance Technician, you'll be tasked with keeping the care home safe and in tip-top condition.

This could range from completing risk assessments, to interacting with residents and helping them with personal projects, such as decorating their room and hanging pictures, or creating planters.

Choosing a support role in a care home with Exemplar Health Care is more than just a job, it's an opportunity to be a part of a caring community and make a positive impact.

Each role offers unique opportunities to build meaningful relationships and contribute to the overall well-being of the residents.
