Blackmoor care home in Birmingham is open

We’re delighted to announce that last week our newest care home, Blackmoor, opened in Birmingham.

Blackmoor, is Exemplar Health Care’s fifth home in the West Midlands, which will support 30 adults living with complex mental and physical health needs.

The 30-bed home has the facilities and skills to provide safe person-centred care for adults who have neuro-disabilities, acquired brain injuries and complex mental health needs, including those who display behaviours of concern.

The home also has communal dining and living spaces, as well as an activities hub, therapy kitchen, salon, multi-faith room and large accessible garden.

Kerry Hill, the Commissioning Home Director of Blackmoor, shares: “I’m thrilled to have opened Exemplar Health Care’s third home in Birmingham.

"This community-based home will provide person-centered care that focuses on maximising independence, building everyday living skills, and empowering people to live as fulfilled lives as possible."

Blackmoor provides a welcoming environment where people can feel at home, continue to do the things that they enjoy, whilst remaining closer to family, friends and loved ones.

The home has 30 large bedrooms across three units, including male-only and female-only units. Each bedroom has an en-suite wet room, with communal dining and living spaces as well as a cafe, sensory room and accessible garden. 

We’ve found that this small group living provides a homely and supportive environment, which is more responsive to people’s needs.

The home is surrounded by a large landscaped garden, that’s been designed with accessibility in mind, and is ideal for parties, events and activities.

Blackmoor has a trained team of Nurses and Health Care Assistants, supported by a dedicated Therapy Team comprising of an Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist and Life-Skills Coordinator.
