Tees Grange care home in Stockton-on-Tees has been rated ‘Good’ in all areas, in its first Care Quality Commission (CQC) assessment.

The report highlighted the home’s “person-centred” approach and “learning culture,” and praised the management team for their ongoing commitment to improving care and support, ensuring people experience a better quality of life.

The home was also commended for its strong focus on inclusivity, taking into account and celebrating peoples' strengths, abilities, aspirations, culture, and unique backgrounds, alongside protected characteristics.

Opened in 2024, Tees Grange supports up to 30 adults living with complex needs, spread across three small 10-bed communities.

Feedback from those living, working, and supporting care at Tees Grange was overwhelmingly positive.

One healthcare professional noted:

“Staff were very compassionate and caring, using creative thinking to ensure the best possible outcomes.”

Another shared:

“[The home’s] Sexuality Champion continues to work with my client as they expressed confusion about their sexuality. This positive support has allowed [them] to be who they are without any judgement and resulted in them being able to express themselves positively.”

CQC inspectors described the leadership team as “visible and knowledgeable,” praising their efforts to ensure that people receive the highest quality of care.

The team’s commitment to staff development through regular supervision and training in key areas - such as dignity, mental capacity, and infection prevention - was also acknowledged.

The report noted that residents at Tees Grange have access to a wide range of activities and are encouraged to make decisions about their care and daily routines.

One relative shared:

“We have a good relationship with the support staff, and they’ve been wonderful in meeting [my relative’s] needs. He's taken part in activities in the home. They're very good at identifying areas where he can be independent […].”

CQC also highlighted the importance of listening to residents’ voices, noting regular meetings, feedback from residents, and a dedicated Service User Ambassador who represents their views at an organisational level.

Following the assessment in February 2025, Tees Grange received a ‘Good’ rating across all five key lines of enquiry (KLOEs), which evaluate how safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led a service is.

Reflecting on the achievement, Catherine Pearson, Home Manager at Tees Grange, said:

“We’re so proud to receive this ‘Good’ rating across the board. Our team has worked tirelessly from day one, so it’s wonderful to see that hard work recognised. We’ll continue to build on this success to ensure every day is even better for the people we support.”

Tees Grange provides nursing care for adults living with complex needs arising from dementia, mental health conditions, neuro-disabilities, and physical disabilities.
