In June, Alex, who lives at Havenmere care home in Immingham, celebrated the 20th anniversary of Download Festival with friends.

The team at Havenmere organised the trip away for Alex, where she stayed for five days in the disabled accessible campsite.

Throughout the festival, Alex was accompanied by Health Care Assistant, Sharon, and Care Practitioner, Amy.

Alex shared, “If it wasn't for the carers taking me, I wouldn't be able to go and have the amazing time I did. They looked after me so well and words can never explain how thankful I am.”

“I go to Download Festival to see my friends, many of whom I only see for these five days as we all live in different parts of the UK, plus listening to all the amazing bands.”

Download Festival is the UKs premier rock festival, based at the spiritual home of Donington Park. The festival organisers provide accessible viewing platforms throughout the arena with ramped access, wheelchair-accessible toilets, and charging points.

Looking back on the festival, Alex told us: “I had the time of my life there. I felt I could leave all my worries at the door and have the best time seeing my friends, not over FaceTime.

“It was fantastic. We had so much fun head banging, singing our hearts out and catching up with everyone was just beyond words.”
