My favourite Exemplar Health Care value is ‘Fun’. That might not be the most obvious choice for someone responsible for transformation, systems and change delivery, but I think it’s a really important one. In a busy organisation like ours, creating an environment where people enjoy working together really matters. When people feel positive, supported and connected, they are far more likely to embrace change, solve problems and do great work. Transformation is always easier when people don’t immediately hide in a cupboard when they see you coming.

At Exemplar Health Care there’s a genuine sense of purpose behind everything we do. The work is meaningful, and the ambition is real. I’m fortunate to work with brilliant colleagues across the business who care deeply about delivering excellent care and are always looking for ways to improve. There’s also a real openness to change, if it’s practical, makes life easier, and doesn’t involve too many logins.

I’m particularly proud of the progress we’ve made in putting in place systems that help our teams deliver excellent care and make better informed decisions. Recent implementations such as Digital Care Records and Data Alerts are important steps forward for the organisation. But what I’m most proud of is not just introducing new systems, it’s how we deliver change around them. For change to be successful, systems need to be fit for purpose, genuinely useful, and properly embedded in day-to-day practice. There’s no point in launching something shiny if it ends up being ignored or worked around.

Looking ahead, I’m excited about continuing to build on these foundations. We have a real opportunity to use digital, data and smarter ways of working to support colleagues, strengthen decision making and improve outcomes for the people we support. Most of all, I’m excited about delivering change in a way that works for the organisation, bringing people with us, listening carefully, and making sure improvements are sustainable. If we can do that well, we’ll not only keep improving our systems, but also the experience of the colleagues who use them every day.
