We’re excited to announce that we’ve begun the refurbishment of a new 20-bed complex needs care home in Kilnhurst, Rotherham.
When open, Potters Green will support adults living with acquired brain injuries, complex mental health needs, dementia and physical disabilities.
Potters Green will have 20 bedrooms, each with an en-suite, across two units. With this small group living, we’ve found we’re able to provide a homely and supportive environment that’s more responsive to people’s needs.
The home will also be surrounded by an easy-access sensory garden and include a communal hub, and living and dining spaces for residents and their friends and family to socialise.
Our Nurse-led team, which includes an in-house Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist, have the skills and expertise to support people with complex needs including prolonged disorders of consciousness and behaviours of concern, and those who require tracheostomies, ventilators and PEG feeding tubes.
Work has begun
Pacy & Wheatley are leading the refurbishment of Potters Green, they have previously worked with Exemplar Health Care to refurbish our Marmaduke care home, which opened last May in Hull.
Craig Petty, Site Manager at Potters Green, shared: “The building has already had walls removed and the flooring has been ripped up, exposing foundations below the building to allow a full survey of the structure.
“We have got to know some of the local residents and have donated some of the doors from the existing building to a local allotment.”
Charlotte Lloyd, Director of Commissioning at Exemplar Health Care, shares: “We're proud to bring this one-of-a-kind facility to Kilnhurst, to enable local people who are living with complex needs, to live close to home, regain their independence and everyday living skills, and move back into their homes in the community."
“It has always been our policy to build our homes in the heart of local communities so that people can remain close to their loved ones whilst receiving the care that they need and deserve.
“Across our homes, we’ve seen lots of positive examples of partnerships with local communities, and we’re looking forward to doing the same with Potters Green.”
