At Exemplar Health Care, we encourage people to continue doing the things that they enjoy. We adjust our approach as a person’s condition develops and make changes to suit their individual needs by working with them, their loved ones and professionals to design a care plan.
Our high staffing levels of Registered Nurses and trained Health Care Assistants enable us to provide support with all aspects of our residents’ lives, which leads to improved person-centred and longer-term outcomes.
Throughout April, we’ve visited lots of new places and enjoyed the warm Spring sunshine when it’s made an appearance. We’ve been busy celebrating Easter, St. George’s Day and even International Beer Day at our Longley Park View care home in Sheffield.
This blog shares a round up of what we’ve been up to during an egg-cellent April.
Easter fun
Over the Easter holiday many of our residents enjoyed getting crafty, decorating our homes and finding lots of Easter eggs.
Our Havenmere care home in Immingham, Lincolnshire had lots of fun designing and creating Easter bonnets. The ladies wore them loud and proud to show off their creations!
Residents at our St Andrew’s Court care home in Hull joined in the fun by making some lovely Easter head bands in their arts and craft sessions.
Over at our Copperfields care home in Leeds, some of our residents used their Easter chocolate to make some lovely treats for everybody to enjoy together.
Celebrating our patron saint
As ‘fun’ is one of our Exemplar Health Care values, we like to celebrate special occasions such as St George’s Day, with themed parties.
Our Longley Park View care home in Sheffield baked a delicious red velvet dragon cake to mark the occasion, topped with its very own icing dragon!
Dearnevale care home in Barnsley had a very busy day for St. George’s Day. They attended church where residents won lots of prizes on the tombola and enjoyed some afternoon refreshments.
In the afternoon they all took part in an arts and crafts competition where the goal was to make the best dragon. In the end, the Derbyshire Unit came out victorious. The competition was judged by our kitchen staff who said: “It was really hard to judge the competition, they were all great!”
At one of our new specialist care homes in Birmingham, Bennett Court got their hands dirty to create their very own St. George’s cross.
Residents got involved by painting their hands and replicating the English flag with pride!
Exploring the great outdoors
We encourage and support our resident to be active members of their local community.
In Birmingham, at the team at Otterburn took a day trip out to Cannon Hill Park.
They enjoyed taking in the spring sunshine and even managed to squeeze in a little train ride!
The home’s Life Skills Co-ordinator, Samuel, said: “There was lots of fun, laughs and smiles.”
Fairburn Mews care home in Castleford have been busy this month, visiting both Ponderosa Animal Park and The Deep in Hull.
Scotia Heights care home in Stoke-on-Trent, also had a trip out to go ten pin bowling, where everyone got competitive for the win, and enjoyed some burgers and chips afterwards.
