Bennett Court’s Service User Ambassador, Joel, has stepped up to join the Regional Ambassador team. In this role, Joel will deliver induction sessions for new colleagues, co-produce impactful projects with the Marketing Team, and represent resident feedback in quarterly ‘An audience with the Exec’ meetings with our Leadership Team.

The Service User Ambassador role exemplifies our commitment to person-centred care, empowering people to make decisions about their care, build confidence, and develop skills.

Ambassadors take on roles in their home, co-develop company-wide projects, and sit on the Service User Council - ensuring their voices help drive meaningful change.

Last year, the Service User Council introduced the Regional Ambassador role to expand these opportunities even further.

The new role gives current Service User Ambassadors the opportunity to lead projects, mentor new ambassadors, and represent other residents and their feedback at the quarterly "Audience with the Exec" meetings.

Joel, who’s been an ambassador since joining Bennett Court in 2023, is excited to embrace this new challenge and continue making a difference in  the Regional Ambassador role.

Over the past two years, Joel has actively participated in North East council meetings and collaborated with colleagues across Exemplar Health Care on projects such as improving colleague inductions and rewriting policies.

When the Regional Ambassador role was introduced with Adam, Alex, and Dave, Joel quickly decided he wanted to join the team.

He recently shadowed Alex as she delivered an induction session for colleagues at one of our brand-new homes. Inspired by the positive impact it had on the learners, Joel felt motivated to take on the role himself.

Learning the ropes from Alex prepared Joel to deliver his first induction session at Hamilton Springs, a newly opened care home in South Elmsall, Pontefract.

“It was nerve-wracking, but the feedback was amazing!

“Claire Hall, the Regional Trainer, told me: ‘You did a fantastic job. You were so professional, and the inductees loved it.’

“Hearing that feedback was fantastic. It’s so rewarding to know I did a good job, and I told Sophia, our Service User Engagement Manager, straight away that I can’t wait to do more!!”

Sophia supports Joel to continue developing his Regional Ambassador role, working closely with other teams to find new projects for both him and other ambassadors to contribute to.

This year, Joel plans to collaborate with the Marketing Team on initiatives such as reviewing interview questions, creating marketing videos and developing content for social media.

“I’m also looking forward to joining the next ‘Audience with the Exec’ meeting with the other Regional Ambassadors, and working with the Behaviour Support Team to enhance positive behaviour support training.”
