This month, senior leaders across Exemplar Health Care celebrated a significant milestone, as they graduated from the Leaders 4: Inspire internal training programme, equipped with new skills to drive innovation and inspire their teams.
The Leaders 4: Inspire programme is tailored towards senior leaders including Regional Directors, Commissioning Managers and Heads of Departments.
The programme is part of a wider suite of leadership programmes in the Exemplar Health Care Academy, each with their own modules that focus on different topics.
The programmes aim to nurture talent, build leadership capabilities at all levels, and support succession planning to ensure sustainable growth and future success for our colleagues.
The leaders 4 programme kicked off in October 2023, with workshops on leadership and communication styles and financial know-how. This set the scene for how our senior managers can make a positive shift in team dynamics and act on business insights.
December 2023 brought a practical workshop on coaching skills, reminding us that a great leader is also a great coach.
By February 2024, our leaders were delving into strategic change, using real-world case studies to create impactful initiatives. During this module, they explored how psychological factors can make people react positively or negatively to change.
The journey ended in April 2024, when our leaders learned how to shift from working 'in' the business to working 'on' it, ensuring innovative strategies are effectively delivered and brought to life.
Although the graduates’ workshops may be over, their growth is just beginning.
Matthew Blain, our HR Director, says it best:
"We owe it to our service users and our colleagues to have highly trained and effective leaders.
“Leaders 4: Inspire is one of our four new Leadership Pathways programmes delivered through the newly formed Exemplar Health Care Academy , and I’m proud that our Regional Directors and Commissioning Managers have led from the front by going first.
“Ten days off-the-job learning is a big investment, and the programme underpins our Exemplar Way partnership with the world-leading Virginia Mason Institute, which aims to build a sector-leading culture of safety and continuous improvement.”
As we look ahead, we’re excited to see how our graduates will implement their newfound skills and knowledge to make a real difference in their roles.
The ripple effect of their development will undoubtedly reach every corner of Exemplar Health Care, making every day better for both our colleagues and the people we support.
