Debbie Russell, Home Manager at Acer Mews, said: “I’m incredibly proud to open Acer Mews. Our team is passionate about making a real difference to the lives of those who rely on long-term support.”

Acer Mews supports adults living with complex mental health conditions, dementia, neuro-disabilities and physical disabilities.

People living at Acer Mews would otherwise be in hospital for extended periods of time. Our care enables people to stay in the community and reduces hospital and secure facility admission.

This year, Exemplar Health Care 25 years as one of the country’s leading nursing care providers for adults living with complex needs.

“Ongoing commitment to providing outstanding nursing care”

“We’re absolutely thrilled to announce the official opening of our newly refurbished care home in Ashton-under-Lyne.

“We understand how crucial complex needs care is in the Tameside area, and this new home is an extension of our ongoing commitment to providing outstanding, nurse-led support.

“We’re eager to work closely with local healthcare professionals, commissioners, and families to deliver the highest standard of care, tailored to each individual’s unique needs."

A day filled with fun, joy and unity

We invited Civic Mayor of Tameside, Councillor Betty Affleck to join us to celebrate opening our newest care home. The Mayor and her Consort Declan Fitzpatrick took a tour of the home and remarked upon the vast improvements made during the extensive refurbishment.

Following a celebratory feast, guests were treated to a medley of songs by the Willow Wood Hospice choir.

The festivities, organised by the home, were a treat for all those involved in opening the new home. Filled with fun, joy and unity.

To complete the occasion, the Civic Mayor cut a ceremonial ribbon and declared Acer Mews officially open.

Take a look around Acer Mews

In 2023, Exemplar Health Care purchased the former Kingsfield Care Centre, a closed 54-bedded care home. The building went through an extensive refurbishment and extension, transforming it into a purpose-built complex care home, Acer Mews.

When developing the new care home, we created an environment to support the quality of life for the people who live here.

At Acer Mews, people can feel at home, continue to do the things that they enjoy, and remain closer to their loved ones.

A smaller group living provides a more homely, supportive and responsive care environment. So, Acer Mews has large bedrooms with lots of communal areas. The home has two units, and each of the 28 bedrooms has an en-suite wet room.

We provided areas to build close-knit communities within the home. So, each unit has a dining area, lounge and a quiet lounge.

We’ve added sensory bathrooms, a beauty salon, therapy room, activities hub, a multi-faith area and two courtyards.

When decorating the home, we made sure the home would be visually attractive, with all the comforts of home.
