Meet the Manager opening our new Adswood Lodge care home in Stockport

Sarah Lydon is the Home Manager opening our brand new Adswood Lodge care home in Cale Green, Stockport.

Located on Adswood Lane West, the home will support 30 adults living with complex needs arising from brain injuries, dementia, neuro-disabilities and complex mental health conditions.

Ahead of the home’s opening in early 2023, we asked Sarah what inspired her to make the move to Exemplar Health Care and what she hopes to bring to the home when it opens.

What drew you to Exemplar Health Care?

When I saw the role, I thought it looked like an exciting opportunity to use my experience and skills to open a brand new service and shape a brand new team.

I was attracted to the company because of the values of fun, integrity, responsive, success and teamwork. Values are really important to me – they motivate me to get up every morning to make a difference.

What inspired you to work in social care?

I always wanted to help people and make a difference. I have a passion for quality and developing staff to achieve this. If you can get up every morning loving what you do, then it’s a passion and not a job.

What do you think sets Adswood Lodge apart from other nursing homes?

Adswood Lodge is a brand new care service that’s been purpose-built to meet the needs of adults living with complex needs.

When open, the home will have a trained team of Health Care Assistants, Registered Nurses and Therapists, who have the experience and skills to provide specialist nursing care.

Staffing levels in Exemplar Health Care homes are higher than average. You’ll often find up to six Health Care Assistants and two Registered Nurses on each ten-bed unit.

The home will also have an in-house Therapy Team of a Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Therapy Assistant and Life Skills Coordinators.

What are you most excited for once Adswood Lodge opens?

I’m excited to get to know the local community and ensure that our service users are supported to integrate into it. A big part of our care at Exemplar Health Care is about supporting people to maintain their community connections, if they wish.

It’s very rewarding to be able to bring this much needed service to the local area, so that local people with complex health needs can lead more rewarding and independent lives.

What would you say to people thinking about applying for a role at Adswood Lodge?

Later in 2022, we’ll be recruiting for around 100 job roles in the Cale Green, Stockport area, including:
