Meet Michelle, Lead Activities Coordinator at Willowbeck
Michelle loves that the most rewarding part of her job as Lead Activities Coordinator at Willowbeck, is the feeling you get when you’ve helped someone achieve their goals. Here, she talks about the activities her team get up to with the people we support.

Activities Coordinator, Michelle, sat on a sofa smiling at the camera

Making the decision to join Willowbeck was a no-brainer! It was one of the best things I’ve ever done.

The most rewarding part is seeing people achieve their goals and knowing that you helped them get there.

Your main responsibility as an Activities Coordinator is to instill a bit of fun into people’s day-to-day lives.

Our activities are led by the people we support.

We’ll offer suggestions but they’ll make the decision on how they spend their days. This is different to anywhere I’ve worked before.

We like to have fun and help people develop their life skills.

For example, we’ve supported someone to go to college and some of our residents run our tuck shop.

We also love to go out in our minibus. And we know how to throw a good party.

There’s always something going on!

It’s really special to see everyone getting involved in activities.

Some of the things we do are new to people, so they're learning new skills and meeting new people – it’s just brilliant.

For anyone thinking about applying for a role in activities, I would say absolutely – do it.

The Activities Team, in my opinion, have the best job!
