Our Nurses do more than care - they connect, support and empower. This campaign shares real stories from the people we support at Exemplar Health Care.
International Nurses' Day is a global celebration of the dedication and compassion of Nurses everywhere.
Held each year on 12 May, it’s a chance to recognise the life-changing impact Nurses have - not just in hospitals, but in communities, care homes, and homes across the world.
It’s a moment to say thank you, share stories, and shine a light on the incredible people who make care truly meaningful.
Real stories. Real care. Real impact.

"Having incredible Nurses means I can join in celebrations – including St Patrick’s Day! I appreciate Guinness, but I appreciate our Nurses more. Thank you all."
Dave moved to Willowbeck following a ski accident, which resulted in a brain stem stroke, leaving him with severe physical difficulties diagnosed as locked-in syndrome. As well as building up his mobility, he's the home's Service User Ambassador.
Leanne moved to Quarryfields after her previous home closed. Since, she’s received the care and encouragement she needed to focus on the things that bring her happiness, including finding love with her fiancé, Jacob.

What being a Nurse means to me
"It's just so rewarding because you know that you're making a difference."
Anna-Marie, Clinical Nurse Manager at Blackmoor, has always had a passion for care.
Having worked in varying Care Assistant roles all her life, at 42, she decided to take the leap and go to University and become a Registered Nurse.
After gaining experience in a hospital setting, she decided to move back into the social care sector, and joined Blackmoor in 2023.
"Being a Nurse means I can be there for those important moments. There's no other feeling like working with someone to achieve a goal, you share in their success and it's so rewarding."
Just last year Anna-Marie supported lifelong Aston Villa fan Phil to achieve his dream to watch a home game at every football ground in the West Midlands.
She reached out to all the football clubs in the region to share Phil’s story.
Aston Villa was quick to respond after hearing about Phil’s decades-long commitment to the club.
Phil attended his first Villa game in over 40 years, supported by Anna-Marie and David Henderson, Maintenance Technician, at Villa Park in September last year.
Since then, the secured a visit to West Bromwich Albion, leaving just Birmingham City left to tick off his list.

The role of a Registered Nurse in a care home
Did you know there's over 32,000 Registered Nurses working in adult social care across the UK?
That's a lot of Nurses making a difference every single day! Though, the role of a Nurse is often misunderstood. Especially in a care home.
We often hear misconceptions such as, "it's just handing out medication", "they're deskilled Nurses", "it's not a proper nursing job". These couldn't be further from the truth!
So, what does a Nurse in an Exemplar Health Care care home actually do?
Care plan
Our Nurses develop, implement and evaluate needs-based care plans in collaboration with the person they're supporting, other colleagues in the home and external professionals.
Clinical care
Our Nurses provide high-quality person-centred clinical care. This may include administering medication or wound care, as well as specialist care such as tracheostomy care.
Lead a team
Our Nurses lead the wider care team in the home and are on hand to provide support, mentoring and guidance to their colleagues.
Upskill and develop
To offer the best support possible all of our Nurses ensure their skills and knowledge are up to date by attending both internal and external training opportunities.
Have fun
Life at Exemplar Health Care is all about having fun, and our Nurses are an integral part of that. From parties to holidays, our Nurses join in and bring the fun!
