Claire Bell, Unit Manager at Dearnevale care home in Grimethorpe, Barnsley won the Social Care Nurse Award at the national Great British Care Awards.
Friday 18 March 2022 saw the prestigious awards ceremony for the national Great British Care Awards, celebrating the best of the best in social care.
Claire Bell, who works at Exemplar Health Care’s Dearnevale care home in Grimethorpe, was nominated by her manager and won the regional award for Yorkshire and Humber in November 2021.
Following that, Claire’s nomination went forward for the national award, where she competed against winners from other regions.
Claire was joined by colleagues from Dearnevale and across Exemplar Health Care at the national finals gala dinner on Friday night, at the ICC in Birmingham.
Claire was announced as the winner of the national Social Care Nurse at the finals, and was handed her award by broadcaster and journalist, Kate Garraway.
The judges applauded Claire for her person-centred approach to nursing. About Claire, they said: “An outstanding candidate who gave detailed responses with a clear understanding of the benefits of nurses in social care.”
Claire was joined by colleagues from Exemplar Health Care who were also regional finalists and up for the national award.
Violet Hicks and Ross Baxter were highly commended in their categories, the Ancillary Worker Award and the Care Home Cook/Chef Award respectively.
