The King’s representative visited Parkside care home for a lively garden party, commemorating the opening of its new garden facilities alongside residents and members of the Tipton community.
Parkside recently hosted a garden party, celebrating the unveiling of their newly refurbished garden and ‘The Cowshed’ - an area for the home to host parties and activities for its residents.
Deputy Lieutenant John Wood DL joined as a special guest, marking the occasion with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The garden party was well attended by family and friends of residents and colleagues, neighbouring Exemplar Health Care homes, and local community members.
The festivities kicked off at noon with a BBQ, entertainment, games, and raffles.
During the event, the Deputy Lieutenant officially opened The Cowshed and presented long service awards to dedicated team members, recognising their commitment to providing exceptional care.
The visit was particularly significant for many residents at Parkside care home, who have a long-standing tradition of writing meaningful letters to the royal family.
Deputy Lieutenant John Wood DL shared his thoughts on the occasion:
"It was a privilege to attend the garden party at Parkside care home and see first-hand the wonderful community spirit that flourishes here. Events like this are crucial as they bring together residents, families, colleagues, and the wider community, creating a sense of belonging and celebration.
“I'm honoured to have been part of this special occasion, celebrating the wonderful work being done at Parkside and the positive impact it has on the lives of those who live here."
The entertainment included a performance by local singer Hells Bell, adding to the vibrant atmosphere, followed by a visit from four alpacas. The event also featured a raffle and tombola, with proceeds going to the Alzheimer’s Society, alongside other games and activities designed and selected by the residents themselves.
