Bennett Court care home in Pontefract is officially open

Last Tuesday, the Mayor of Wakefield, Councillor Tracey Austin, officially opened Bennett Court care home in South Elmsall, Pontefract.

Bennett Court, based on Ash Grove in South Elmsall, is our first care home in Pontefract.

The new home supports adults living with complex mental health needs and neurological conditions such as Huntington's disease and Parkinson's disease.

The Mayor of Wakefield was invited to cut the ribbon and unveil a plaque, to mark the official opening of the home.

She was joined by Bennett Court’s commissioning home director, Helen Lawson, senior Exemplar Health Care executives, team members and local commissioners.

Councillor Tracey Austin, the Mayor of Wakefield, said: “The team here at Bennett Court are doing an amazing job and it’s great to see so many locals working and supporting the care home ahead of the opening.

"I was delighted to be offered a tour of the home and have the opportunity to see first-hand that the residents were receiving such fantastic care.

“I love how the features of the home encourage independent living and I am amazed by how spacious the rooms are – with a lovely view I might add. This home is great for the area and great for the local people.”

Helen Lawson, Commissioning Home Director at Bennett Court, said: “We are delighted to have received a warm welcome from the Mayor, Tracey Austin, and to have officially opened the home.

“This home will provide person-centred nursing care for up to 30 people in the Pontefract area."
