Tyne Grange has 20 en-suite bedrooms and two single-occupancy apartments, across two units.
With this small group living, we’re able to provide a homely and supportive environment that’s more responsive to individual needs.
The home has communal dining and living spaces, an activities hub, a therapy treatment room and a large accessible garden.
We offer a variety of accessible baths and showers for a range of mobility needs.

King Edward Unit
Presents with predominant mental health and behavioural needs
Is younger working age
Displays behaviours of concern
Has co-occurring physical health needs such as diabetes, dysphagia, and epilepsy
May have limited mobility, requiring regular repositioning, skin integrity checks, and ongoing monitoring
May require care for low-level clinical interventions such as catheters, medication regimes, pain management, and wound care
Thrives in an active and sociable environment
Requires a community-based placement after transferring from an inpatient/mental health rehabilitation/recovery unit
May have experienced one or more failed placements
Requires care focused on stabilisation, meaningful occupation, emotional wellbeing, and maintaining function - and where appropriate, discharge to lower acuity settings
Queen Elizabeth Unit
Has complex mental and physical health needs, that require a high level of nursing input, observation, and monitoring - beyond the scope of mainstream services
Is older working age
Typically has a neurological diagnosis, such as acquired brain injury, dementia, Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s, or spinal injury
Has physical health needs such as bladder and/or bowel conditions, diabetes, dysphagia, and epilepsy
May require care for clinical interventions such as catheters, enteral feeding, medication regimes, pain management, tracheostomies, and wound care
May have limited mobility, requiring regular repositioning, skin integrity checks, and ongoing monitoring
Where appropriate, requires a rehabilitation-focused environment after moving out of a higher acuity service - supporting their journey to a less restrictive and lower acuity setting
Or, for those with degenerative conditions, may require palliative or end-of-life care in future
Apartments
The home also has two single-occupancy apartments, which can be used as step-down or step-up placements.
These are ideal for people who may not be suited to group living, or for those looking to develop their independent living skills as part of their journey towards less restrictive, lower-acuity settings.

Tyne Grange is a short drive from the A1 and other major roads including the A189.
If you're travelling north on the A1, at junction 69 take the A184 exit to Central Newcastle/Central Gateshead.
If you're travelling south on the A1, take the A69/A186 slip road to Hexham/City (West).
Tyne Grange is situated opposite Paignton Avenue, just off Westgate Road.
There are limited parking spaces in the home’s car park. Street parking is available along Grainger Park Road.
