Our Tyne Grange care home in Newcastle, marked its first anniversary last week with a visit from the Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Councillor Habib Rahman.

Tyne Grange opened its doors to its first resident last September. The home had undergone a £3.1 million refurbishment to provide Newcastle with a new state-of-the-art nursing home for adults living with complex and high acuity needs.

At a party held at the home, staff and colleagues who have been working at the home since it first opened were awarded gifts, including bracelets and watches.

The Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Councillor Habib Rahman was invited to cut the ribbon and unveil a plaque, to mark the official first anniversary of the home.

Tailored to support every resident

The Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Habib Rahman said: “I am absolutely delighted to be here for the anniversary of Tyne Grange. The team have worked so hard over the past year and it’s great to finally celebrate the first anniversary of the home with its staff and residents.

“The team at Tyne Grange have given me a tour of the premises and it's great to see how the home is tailored to support every resident. Tyne Grange’s team seem to be very committed to offering the best quality care they can and it is great to see the resident’s families here too”.

Tyne Grange’s Commissioning Home Director, Sam Cottam, at Exemplar Health Care, said: “We’re so thrilled to have officially opened Tyne Grange and to have received a warm welcome from the Lord Mayor, Habib Rahman.

“At Exemplar Health Care, we are passionate about employing as many local people as possible and we are pleased that we have been able to welcome local nurses and carers from across Newcastle to support our residents.

“All our colleagues have a real passion for delivering quality care for every resident, and we’re looking forward to becoming a part of the local community.”

About Tyne Grange

Tyne Grange has 20 large bedrooms across two units, each with an en-suite wet room. We’ve found that this small group living provides a homely and supportive environment, which is more responsive to people’s needs.

We encourage people to personalise their rooms so that it feels like home, whether that’s a full re-decoration or encouraging people to bring special items that are filled with fond memories.

The home also has communal dining and living space, as well as a sensory and therapy room which provides a dedicated space for rehabilitation.

Tyne Grange is surrounded by a large landscaped garden, that’s been designed with accessibility in mind, and is ideal for parties, events and activities.
