Exemplar Health Care joins forces with Barnsley College to support more young people to start a career in care

Exemplar Health Care is pleased to announce a new partnership with Talent United, Barnsley College’s employer engagement initiative, to provide meaningful employer engagements for students.

Talent United aims to bridge the gap between education and employment by providing students with meaningful engagements with employers.

Exemplar Health Care has partnered with Talent United to provide learners with invaluable experiences that raise their aspirations, develop employability skills and discuss potential career paths in the health and social care sector.

As a partner, we’ll deliver a range of activities for learners including workshops, talks and seminars, as well as using our in-house expertise to shape the curriculum and provide students with the necessary skills set to succeed in a career in care.

It’s vital that we recruit the right people, who have the right values and skills, so that we can achieve our aim of making every day better for adults living with complex needs.

With a number of care homes in the Barnsley area, this partnership will support local ambitions to enrich the future labour market by creating a generation of ‘work ready’ learners that are aware of the careers available to them and have the employability skills to progress into employment or further study.

We hope to offer some of the students who’ve studied level 2 and 3 qualifications in social care, full time employment opportunities after they complete their studies.

Martin Holden, Core Learning Facilitator and Business Partner at Exemplar Health Care shares:

“We know that the best way to make every day better for our service users is by recruiting the best colleagues.

“Having the opportunity to work with students studying level 2 and 3 in health and social care, who have a passion for working in the sector, puts us in a great position to offer them a job straight out of college and give them the opportunity to progress and grow with Exemplar Health Care.

“We want to be able to give learners a real insight into the world of social care and what it’s like to live and work in our care homes.

“We also want to show them all of the fantastic career paths that they could take in the health and social care sector.

“It’s great to be given the chance to influence the material learned by students, to ensure that it’s as relevant as possible for our future workforce.”
