The home has 40 large bedrooms, each with an en-suite, across four units.
With this small group living, we’re able to provide a homely and supportive environment that’s more responsive to individual needs.
Each unit has communal dining and living spaces, and a sensory bathroom with a variety of accessible baths and showers.
At the heart of the home, is a communal hub and large accessible garden. People also have access to a therapy treatment room and beauty salon.
Profile of need by unit
Shire Unit
Has complex mental health needs arising from a primary mental health or neurological diagnosis, including brain injury, early onset dementia, paranoid schizophrenia, personality disorder, or post-traumatic stress disorder
Displays high-risk behaviours of concern requiring enhanced observation and structured risk management
Is a younger working-age adult
May present with increased clinical and safety risks, including of dysphagia, malnutrition, or dehydration
May have a forensic background, with risk-related behaviours reduced or ceased, and may remain subject to legal restrictions or Section 117 aftercare
May have a history of alcohol or other substance misuse
May be moving from a hospital, secure, or prison setting - and may have experienced one or more previous placement breakdowns
Can live in an active, sociable environment, where shared spaces and regular interaction with others are part of everyday life
Requires a community-based placement focused on stabilisation, risk reduction, and developing independence, with the potential to step down to a lower-acuity or less restrictive environment as needs stabilise
Connemara Unit
Has a primary dementia diagnosis, including alcohol-related, early-onset, frontotemporal, or vascular dementia
Presents with predominant mental health and behavioural needs
Displays behaviours of concern
Is an older adult (65+)
May have a forensic background, with risk-related behaviours reduced or ceased, and may remain subject to legal restrictions or Section 117 aftercare
May have a secondary neurological diagnosis, including Huntington’s disease or Parkinson’s
May have co-occurring physical health needs
May have dysphagia, requiring modified diets, supervised mealtimes, and aspiration risk management
Requires care focused on meaningful occupation, emotional wellbeing, cognitive support, and functional maintenance
Fresia Unit
Has a primary dementia diagnosis, including alcohol-related, early-onset, frontotemporal, or vascular dementia
Presents with predominant mental health and behavioural needs
Displays behaviours of concern
Is an older adult (65+)
May have a forensic background, with risk-related behaviours reduced or ceased, and may remain subject to legal restrictions or Section 117 aftercare
May have co-occurring physical health needs
May have dysphagia, requiring modified diets, supervised mealtimes, and aspiration risk management
Requires a high level of clinical nursing input and observation to monitor for deterioration
Requires care focused on meaningful occupation, emotional wellbeing, cognitive support, and functional maintenance
Clydesdale Unit
Has a primary neurological diagnosis, including brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, or stroke
Presents with predominant physical health needs, with progressive physical deterioration and increasing dependency
Is a younger working-age adult
Requires nursing and clinical interventions, including catheter and stoma care, central venous access management, enteral feeding, and advanced respiratory support such as tracheostomy care or mechanical ventilation
May require bariatric care, specialist equipment, and enhanced moving and handling support
May have dysphagia, requiring modified diets, supervised mealtimes, and aspiration risk management
May have limited mobility requiring regular assistance
May require continuing care through to end of life
Requires care focused on maintaining function and promoting independence for as long as possible
