Guests gathered outside a care home

Last week, Fairwinds care home in Rotherham marked its 20th anniversary with a celebration party attended by residents and colleagues along with their families and friends.

The care home was the third to open for Exemplar Health Care and was the companies first to be rated ‘Outstanding’ by CQC. Three colleagues based at Fairwinds have worked at the complex needs care home since the day it opened 20 years ago.

Celebrating 20 years with loved ones

The event hosted at the home included an afternoon full of activities and fun. An ice cream van provided sweet treats for guests in the sunshine, while the home's Catering Team worked hard on a tasty buffet for everybody to enjoy.

Guests also enjoyed cake, dancing and entertainment from local singer, Donna Bell, who partnered with residents throughout the afternoon to perform classic songs to the crowd.

To celebrate their success in the local community, the home invited the Mayor of Rotherham, Councillor Sheila Cowen, who shared that she thoroughly enjoyed the time she spent at Fairwinds and plans to visit again later this year.

Central Support Services colleagues and the Leadership Team also joined in the celebrations, and Kath Dye, Home Manager, delivered a speech reflecting on the home’s journey and expressing gratitude to everybody for their dedicated support.

She shared, “I’m the very proud manager of Fairwinds complex needs care home and I’m delighted to celebrate this milestone with so many wonderful people.

“Fairwinds has always been about creating a home where everyone feels valued and loved and it’s a privilege to be lucky enough to work in our residents’ home.”
