Quarryfields resident, Ian, makes a splash

A resident at our Quarryfields care home in Doncaster has recently made a splash at his local leisure centre with the support of our home-based Activities Team.
At Exemplar Health Care, we understand the importance of people being involved in their local communities.
We empower people to take part in a range of activities outside of their home, to encourage choice, promote independence and enable them to continue doing the things they love.
Ian has been talking to our care staff about going swimming for a while and told us he hadn’t been since he was a child.
Our Activities Co-ordinator, Courtney, who is based at Quarryfields, decided to organise a trip to the local pool for Ian to fulfil his wish.
Once there, Ian had a lovely day swimming and floating on his back. He told us: “I love the big bath, I’d love to go back!”
Courtney shared: “This was such a massive accomplishment for Ian and we’re so proud of him. It was great that we was able to get him in. Well done Ian. We know this was a big step for you!”

Activities Coordinator jobs at Exemplar Health Care
As an Activities Coordinator, you’ll be responsible for organising meaningful activities for residents that live in your home and supporting them to take part.
Our homes have higher than average staffing levels to ensure that we can create a fun environment for residents, whilst they still receive person-centred care and rehabilitation.
