Top tips: how to stand out in a competitive job market

Want to give yourself the best chance of getting your dream job in care?

The job market is highly competitive at the minute, with an increased number of applicants all contending for the same job.

It’s been reported that there’s 1.52 million people working in adult social care across the UK, and that number is predicted to grow in 2024.

Luckily, there’s a few different methods you can try to stand out from the crowd and get your application the notice it deserves!

Update your CV

An easy and simple way to show us how your skills and experience match the role is to revisit your CV and tailor it to the job description of the role you’re applying for.

It’ll show your enthusiasm and ultimately, we’ll be impressed that you’ve taken the time to understand the requirements of the role.

If you don’t have any experience, we still want to hear from you! Just make sure you add in your transferable skills and any relevant qualifications.

Network

By simply putting a face to the name during your application process, you’ll stand out from the crowd!

LinkedIn is a great tool to build relationships during the application process. We can get a better sense of who you are as a person, which will improve your chances of getting the job. 

When applying, take note of the hiring managers name (found on the job advert), and connect with them on LinkedIn!

When your application comes across their desks, they’ll already be familiar with your name.

Make sure to voice your enthusiasm and you’re sure to stand out!
